Let the Game of GD/PIs begin
If you’re reading this, there is a healthy chance that you’ve either grabbed a prestigious B-School Call (SNAP/IIFT) or are expecting one soon (CAT/XAT/TISS). So you’ve taken all the initial bullets, now is the time for taking the final one. And let me be blunt honest with you, this one’s going to take a lot more discipline, structure, guidance, and effort than the exam papers.
Coming to PI, you should know that even this doesn’t seem like a hardbound time constrained exam, you’re being constantly judged on four parameters, to say the least:
Coming to PI, you should know that even this doesn’t seem like a hardbound time constrained exam, you’re being constantly judged on four parameters, to say the least:
1. Clarity of Thought: The interviewers will grill you down at every level to understand whether you’re yourself convinced or not that you want to pursue a Business degree.
2. Communication Skills: A lot of aspirants are always under the illusion that by communication skills we mean How fluent are you with the English language. It’s not that. You need to present exceptional conversational ability. How you present yourself in a one-on-one speaks tonnes about your personality. You need to constantly be paying attention to not just what you're talking about but also what the interviewer is saying.
3. Knowledge: Please be well-adept with every possible question on every point that you’ve written on your Resume. Real Case Scenario: During my IIFT Interview, I had mentioned Poker as one of my areas of interest and was asked to calculate the normal and cumulative probability of a straight flush hitting. Bottomline, you can expect anything and everything from your form or CV.
4. Personality: Again, no I’m not talking about a perfect waistline or a perfectly toned body. I’m talking about how you carry yourself. How confident you are. How passionate you sound. Avoid being fake during the interviews. You aren’t the first candidate the interviewer is coming across. She/He has years of experience behind her/him, give respect to that. You can be smart but you won’t be able to out-smart them.
